I decided to embark on a vegan challenge for a week, curious to see if it was as daunting as I imagined. To my surprise, it was surprisingly manageable, albeit a bit carb-heavy at times.
One of the biggest challenges was learning to cook beyond the usual “sprinkle mixed herbs on everything” approach. I discovered the joys of fresh herbs and spices, experimenting with flavours and creating dishes that were both delicious and satisfying.
Beans became my new best friend. They provided a fantastic source of protein and were incredibly versatile. However, I must confess that I wasn’t a fan of tofu in any form I tried.
The Verdict: A Valuable Experience
While I ultimately decided not to pursue a fully vegan lifestyle, the experience was incredibly valuable. It increased my awareness of the impact of my dietary choices and encouraged me to incorporate more plant-based meals into my regular routine.
If you’re considering trying a vegan diet, I encourage you to give it a go. You might be surprised at how easy it can be and the positive impact it can have on your health and the environment.
