Pre-race prediction game to educate, inform and warm up the audience. One of the limiting factors to sport betting websites is that a user has an amount of money in their wallet and that is the amount of money they have to play with. Coral wanted to introduce some very lightweight games which were not based on spending the balance in your wallet. Of course, as a sport betting operator, their goal is to get as much money as possible. However, they found that keeping users, keeping customers within their environment, within their ecosystem helps with their overall goal of getting those users to spend more money over a lifetime. So they were offering some simple free predictor games. We realised that horse racing is one of the most common daily sports and it’s also one that most sports bet on. So we created some simple pre-race prediction games which would run for every single horse race in the country every single day forever and users would pick who they thought would win the race and then they would be told when they are correct or if they are incorrect they would be prompted to try another one. This saw a high return rate for users who otherwise may not have returned because they did not have money in their wallet or they had nothing during the day which they wanted to bet on which they wanted to gamble on. So this gave them a reason to come back to the Coral app and website and interact. It was very very simple. It was more of a test than it was a major project. That test was to validate a hypothesis and that hypothesis was that users of the Coral app and website are not only there to win money they are there to prove their expertise. They are there for entertainment and they are there because it is an environment which they are used to and this hypothesis was proven true.
