Fueled by the exhilaration of winning my second World Cocktail Championship title, I decided to revisit my previous retrospectives with newfound clarity. A pattern emerged: setting goals, both personal and professional, creates a sense of purpose and propels me forward. With this newfound motivation, I declare 2017 the year of focused ambition!

Wrapping Up Past Projects

Several projects from 2016 deserve attention. In January, I’ll be finalizing these projects, ensuring they function as intended. While some, like Gobot Run, had grander plans, a functional product is the current priority. Focusing on existing projects will free up time for future endeavors.

Agency Internship: A Stepping Stone to Growth

Alongside project completion, January will also see me applying for agency internships. While some consider agency work uninspiring, I view it as a valuable learning experience. Exposure to different clients, projects, and work styles will be instrumental in my development. Landing a short-term internship will provide a springboard for future opportunities.

Transitioning to UX: A Career Change

It’s been a while since I held a traditional job. Freelancing has provided flexibility, but career advancement requires a more structured environment. Following an internship, I plan to relocate to London, a city brimming with exciting design opportunities. My goal is to secure a position that leverages my UX design skills while working with prestigious clients on innovative projects.

London Calling: A New Chapter

While Bristol holds a special place in my heart, London’s undeniable energy and design scene are a powerful draw. The city offers unparalleled opportunities for professional and personal growth. Relocating to London in 2017 signifies my commitment to career advancement.

Climbing the UX Ladder

Landing a UX position is just the first step. I’m eager to demonstrate my capabilities and climb the UX ladder. My background in development, coupled with my business acumen and ability to manage projects from conception to completion, will be valuable assets. Transitioning from developer to UX designer requires dedication, and I’m prepared to put in the hard work to achieve my goals. By Q3, I aim to secure a more senior UX position.

Homeownership: A Long-Term Goal

While homeownership isn’t an immediate possibility, I aim to establish a sustainable financial foundation in 2017. Previous well-paying jobs allowed me to save for a down payment, but a tendency to freelance and indulge in impulsive spending hindered progress. This year, I plan to maintain consistent employment, allowing me to save for a future down payment. The ability to purchase a home signifies financial security, and that’s a long-term goal I’m committed to achieving.

Plan for the Future: A Work in Progress

There’s a grander vision brewing, fueled by this newfound ambition. However, that’s a story for another day – its realization hinges on the success of 2017’s goals.

Making 2017 a Productive Year

Despite the celebratory nature of this post’s creation, my SEO assistant assures me the content is well-structured. While the header photo might be questionable, achieving my goals remains the priority. Here’s to a productive and prosperous 2017!
